Hi, I’m Ava Reynolds, a home cook, recipe creator, and the heart behind PeckEat.

I built this site for the nights when you’re tired, hungry, and need something real on the table fast. After years of testing recipes in an actual home kitchen, I found my sweet spot: high protein meals that are simple, satisfying, and never boring.

From high protein meal prep and high protein breakfast ideas to quick high protein snacks and hearty high protein dinner recipes, everything here is designed for real schedules. You’ll also find plenty of high protein low calorie meals and high protein low carb recipes that taste so good, they don’t feel like diet food.

Familiar ingredients. Easy techniques. Meals your table will request on repeat.

My Journey

My love for cooking grew from years of preparing simple, everyday meals for the people I care about. I didn’t start in a professional kitchen I learned by doing, by balancing work, family life, and the constant question of “what’s for dinner?” Like many busy households, I leaned on takeout and quick fixes when time felt short, which pushed me to find smarter, more practical ways to cook at home without sacrificing flavor.

Today, at PeckEat, I develop and test recipes that truly work in real kitchens for real families. Every dish is made with everyday ingredients and straightforward steps, focusing on reliability over perfection. I prioritize clear instructions and practical presentation rather than overly styled food photography. Each recipe is tested, refined, and shared only when it consistently delivers satisfying, stress-free, home-cooked results you can feel good about serving.

About Ava

Professional Path

  • Before focusing fully on PeckEat, I spent more than ten years working in branding and digital communications. That background shaped the way I create recipes today with clarity, structure, and the reader in mind. In 2021, I transitioned into full-time recipe development, combining my professional experience with my passion for practical home cooking. Years of balancing career responsibilities with everyday meal prep taught me that most home cooks don’t need complicated or trendy recipes — they need dependable meals that work without taking over their entire evening.
  • Cooking Philosophy

  • My philosophy is simple: keep it practical, keep it flavorful, and keep it realistic. I believe great meals don’t require specialty ingredients or complicated techniques. The recipes on PeckEat are built around familiar grocery staples, clear step-by-step instructions, and methods that hold up in a real kitchen. Every dish is tested multiple times, adjusted based on real results, and shared only when it consistently delivers both ease and flavor.
  • Life Outside the Kitchen

  • I live in the Portland, Oregon area with my husband Daniel, our two children (ages 8 and 11), and our energetic rescue pup, Luna. When I’m not developing recipes, you’ll usually find me exploring local farmers markets, experimenting with seasonal Pacific Northwest ingredients, or planning out our weekly meals. My family plays an important role in PeckEat they’re my most honest taste testers and help ensure every recipe truly works for real schedules and everyday home cooking.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What types of recipes can I expect on PeckEat?

At PeckEat, the focus is simple: helping you cook satisfying meals without spending your whole evening in the kitchen. Most recipes are designed to come together in about an hour or less, using everyday grocery store ingredients and straightforward techniques. You’ll find quick stovetop dinners, easy oven-baked meals, practical slow cooker options, and reliable family favorites. Every recipe is developed and tested in a real home kitchen to ensure it’s both flavorful and realistic for busy schedules.

Do you create recipes for specific dietary needs?

PeckEat isn’t built around strict diet plans or food trends. The goal is balanced, flavorful meals that fit into everyday life. That said, many recipes naturally work for different eating styles or can be easily adjusted. Helpful substitution tips and notes are included when useful, whether you’re looking for lighter meals, dairy-free swaps, or lower-carb options. The priority is practicality and taste first, with flexibility when you need it.

How does PeckEat support busy households?

Recipe development at PeckEat is rooted in real-life experience balancing work, family responsibilities, and daily cooking. That means focusing on methods that genuinely save time, prep strategies that are sustainable, and recipes that hold up even when evenings get hectic. Each dish is tested in a home kitchen to make sure it performs reliably under everyday conditions, not just in ideal scenarios.

What meals do you personally love to cook most?

I’m drawn to recipes that are efficient, flavorful, and repeat-worthy. One-pan dinners, sheet pan meals with minimal cleanup, and slow cooker recipes that handle themselves during the day are always favorites. I also love meals that make great leftovers for lunch the next day. If it’s practical, dependable, and full of flavor without unnecessary steps, it fits perfectly with the PeckEat philosophy.

    Culinary Experience

  • Home Recipe Creator – Over the years, I’ve focused on building practical, dependable dinner recipes designed for real kitchens. My approach centers on simple techniques, standard kitchen equipment, and methods that consistently deliver great results without unnecessary complexity.
  • Extensive Recipe Library – Since launching PeckEat, I’ve developed and tested hundreds of recipes ranging from quick weeknight meals and sheet pan dinners to slow cooker favorites and comforting baked dishes. Every recipe goes through multiple rounds of testing and real-life adjustments before it’s published. If it doesn’t perform reliably or earn repeat requests at home, it doesn’t make the cut.
  • Practical Meal Planning Methods – I create realistic meal prep and batch cooking systems built for busy households. The goal isn’t perfection it’s sustainability. Each system is designed to genuinely save time, reduce stress, and make weeknight cooking more manageable long term.
  • Authentic Home Testing – Every PeckEat recipe is developed and tested in a real home kitchen, complete with everyday interruptions, ingredient swaps, and time constraints. Nothing is created in a controlled test lab. If a recipe works here, it will work in your kitchen too.
